Where are Wallum Cottages?

Wallum Cottages are located 11 kilometres south of Crescent Head – a small town on the coast approximately half way between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.  It takes approximately 5 hours to drive from Sydney.
To get here, take the Pacific Highway to Kempsey; then take the Crescent Head turn off (on the southern side of Kempsey town centre).
As you enter Crescent Head, take the first turn right into Baker Drive (just after the Wombat Resort).  Follow the road for almost exactly 11 km (approx 1/2 is dirt road).  The turn off into Wallum Cottages is on your right -approx. 1 km after Delicate Nobby Caravan Park.

The Cottages

The cottages are scattered over the property, each one in its own private setting.   There is plenty of wildlife with kangaroos, goannas, birdlife galore - including the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo which feeds on the seeds of the Casuarina trees that are plentiful on the block.
Walking tracks will allow you to wander through a range of vegetation on the block- from open savannah at the rear of the property, through coastal rainforest, and up to the beach and dunes. The dam is a haven for wildlife - particularly at dawn and dusk.
For the kids there's plenty to explore – so bring the bikes.  But mostly, there will be plenty of time to relax and unwind!

In The Area

This area of coast is virtually undeveloped. You have miles of beach to explore; bush tracks to walk; fish to catch and surf to ride.  Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve is only a few hundred metres away.
There are several local walks including coastal rainforest areas at the back of Big Hill, and coastal walks around the points at Big Hill, Racecourse Headlands and Point Plomer headlands. Some evidence of aboriginal times can be seen in the fish trap at Baries Beach, Point Plomer.

Shopping

Crescent Head is the nearest town - with a population of approx. 1,000;   it has all the necessities – an excellent butcher, an almost legendary bakery, small supermarket, chemist, post office, hotel, country club, (restaurants at both) scenic 6 hole golf course (you can rent clubs), etc.  Crescent also boasts ‘The Point’ – famous amongst Long Boarders.
Kempsey is about 30 minutes drive away – and has supermarkets etc for a big shop up.  The museum of local history at the Tourist Information Centre is well worth a visit.
There are several wineries in the area, and a drive inland can reveal some beautiful locations such as Bellbrook.  A visit to South West Rocks, Hat Head and Gladstone is also a good day’s outing if you wish.
Port Macquarie isn't far away (approx. 60 minutes)- with many tourist attractions, restaurants, etc
